About Our Cables

Every ElectricCrab cable is built around oxygen-free copper conductors, triple-braided shielding, and gold-plated connectors for a stable, low-resistance signal at full bandwidth. We reinforce the neck of every connector against bend stress, the point where most cheap cables fail first, and use metal connector housings for better conductivity and long-term durability. Built to outlast the device you're using it with, so it's ready to move to your next setup.

It depends on the length, and we'd rather tell you the exact status. Our HDMI 1M, 2M and 3M cables hold genuine HDMI Forum ATC certification, tested independently with a certificate and Test ID for each. Our 0.5M, 1.5M, 5M and 7.5M lengths haven't been independently certified yet, though they're built on the same line and to the same construction as the certified lengths. On DisplayPort, our 1M and 1.5M cables hold genuine VESA certification, listed on VESA's own public database. Our 0.5M, 2M and 3M lengths don't currently have a separate listing. All cables, certified or not, are rated for the same bandwidth and performance, 48Gbps and 8K@60Hz/4K@120Hz on HDMI, UHBR20 on DisplayPort. Certification documentation is available on request for any length that holds it, and we're working to extend testing to the rest of the range.

Manufactured in China by specialist partners, to a spec we set for full-bandwidth performance at maximum length. Every design goes through ElectricCrab's own review before we approve a supplier or a run. We stand behind that with our 10-year warranty and 30-day return policy.

Absolutely. The same low-jitter, high-bandwidth design that keeps a home cinema signal clean also suits high-refresh gaming, colour-grading monitors and live production setups.

Compatibility

Yes, our cables are backwards compatible. An 8K-rated HDMI 2.1 cable will carry 4K and 1080p signals perfectly, often with more stability over longer runs than a basic 4K cable. Build quality matters more at length. Many cables start losing bandwidth well before their rated maximum, which is where dropped frames and flickering usually come from. Our cable is capable of full 8K signal up to 9.1 metres, but we cap our range at 7.5 metres so every length we sell holds full bandwidth with confidence, not just on paper.

For full 8K/60Hz or 4K/120Hz you need HDMI 2.1 ports on both source and display, or the matching DisplayPort version. The cable can't upgrade an older port, but it will pass through the best signal the port allows.

Most of our adapters and gender changers are passive and bi-directional. Where an adapter has a defined shape (angled or offset), we label it by orientation: up, down, left, or right. Based on the HDMI connector sitting with its notch facing down and the flat edge on top, as it would on a typical device. If your device's HDMI port is mounted sideways or vertically (common on some TVs, consoles, and wall-mounted setups), our labelled direction will be relative to the port's own orientation, not the room, so "up" always means away from the notch, whichever way the port itself is facing. If you're unsure which way you need, send us a quick photo of your port, and we'll confirm before you order.

Yes. Our HDMI 2.1 cables carry the full feature set including HDR10, Dolby Vision, VRR, ALLM and eARC for soundbars and AV receivers.

Warranty & Support

Our 10-year IronClaw warranty covers manufacturing defects, connector wear, and signal degradation under normal use. It does not cover physical damage from misuse, but we always try to help, simply get in touch.

Email hello@electriccrab.co.uk with your order number and a quick description of the issue. We'll either replace the cable or guide you through a fix, usually within 48 hours.

First, confirm both source and display ports support the target resolution and refresh rate. Then check that the correct input is selected and that any receiver or switch in the chain is also rated for the bandwidth. If everything looks right, we're happy to troubleshoot with you.

Yes. Visit our B2B page or email hello@electriccrab.co.uk with your project details. We offer volume pricing, procure longer runs and custom connector configurations for installers, studios and integrators.
