Cable Advisor

Describe your setup. Get the right cable.

Tell us what you are plugging in, what you want out of it, and roughly how far the cable has to travel. We will point you at the right cable, the right length, and the right port direction.

What the Cable Advisor does

Describe your setup in plain English and the advisor matches it against our current range, then recommends one cable and the exact variant to choose. It is a starting point built on the same questions we answer by email every day, not a generic quiz.

Cable length matters more than most people expect. A run that is too short puts strain on the connector and the port, while a run that is far longer than you need adds slack you will have to hide behind a desk or a wall mount. Picking the length with a little slack but no excess is the sweet spot.

Port direction matters on our directional adapters. Ports on wall-mounted TVs and tight AV cabinets often sit flush against a surface or point away from you, so the adapter has to face the right way to plug in at all. Tell the advisor where your ports sit and it will account for it.

Worked examples

"PS5 Pro into an LG OLED about 2.5 metres away, I want 4K 120Hz and Dolby Atmos through a soundbar." The advisor points to the 3 metre Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 cable. Certified 48Gbps bandwidth carries 4K at 120Hz with headroom at that distance, and eARC keeps Dolby Atmos flowing back from the TV to the soundbar over the same cable.

"Gaming PC with an RTX card driving a 4K 240Hz monitor roughly 1.5 metres away on my desk." That setup favours DisplayPort 2.1. UHBR20 carries 80Gbps, which is what a 4K 240Hz panel needs at full refresh without compression eating into image quality, and a 2 metre length suits a desk run.

"Wall-mounted TV with the AV receiver in a cabinet below, and the port sits flush against the wall." A standard plug cannot physically fit, so the advisor recommends the directional extension adapter, which turns a port facing into the wall into a connection you can actually reach.

Why ElectricCrab cables

Every cable in the range is built to the same construction with gold-plated connectors, and we publish our certification rather than just claiming it: our HDMI cables carry independent HDMI Forum ATC certification with a Test ID you can check, and our DisplayPort cables are listed on VESA's official product database.
